Jim Corbett National Park India

Jim Corbett National park is considered as India’s oldest national park and first tiger reserve. It was founded in 1936, named Hailey National Park. In 1955 it was rechristened as Ramganga National Park. Finally in the honour of the grate hunter and naturalist, late Jim Corbett it changed to Jim Corbett National Park.
Jim Corbett National Park is the best place for the wildlife adventure lovers. All tourism zones inside the park are defined by Corbett Tiger Reserve for tourists to enjoy its extreme wildlife, flora and fauna and breathtaking landscapes.

Corbett National Park covers 512.8 square km area together with the adjacent Reserve Forest Area and Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary more than 1288 square km. including green hills, rivers, water reserves, grasslands, lakes, and water streams.

Corbett Park is house of around 50 species of mammals, 110 tree species, 580 birds and 25 reptile species. Main animals which are easily viewable of the park are Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, Hogg Dear, Spotted Dear, Barking Dear, Chital, Sambar Dears, Leopard, Jungle Cat, Solth Bear, Wild Boar, Crocodile, Gharial, King Kobra, flying fox, Wild Dog, Jackal, Black face Monkeys, Rhesus Monkeys and famous birds such as Long Tail, White Bushchat, Oriental-Pied, Emerald Dove, Red Wattled Lapwing, the Asian Paradise Flycatcher, rested Kingfisher, Indian Shikra, Indian Alpine Swift, Mynahs and Bulbuls., The grate hornbill , Booted Hawk-Eagle, Spotted Owlet, Fish Owls many more.

General Information of Corbett National Park:

The park is placed between 29°25' to 29°39'N latitude and 78°44' to 79°07'E longitude. The altitude of the region ranges between 365 m and 1, 0480 m. The present covered area of the Corbett Tiger Reserve is 1,301.58 square kms including 520 square kms of dense core area and 797.72 square kms of buffer part. The core area forms the National Park while the buffer contains reserve forests (496.54 square kms). Main Tourism Zones of Corbett National Park:For better tourism management the National Park it has divided into five main zones. Every zone has its separate entry gate. Tourist’s and enjoy wildlife safari inside the park through jeep and elephant. For accommodation in forest lodge are available inside the park in various locations.

The different habitat types of Jim Corbett Park i.e. hills, forests, chaurs (grasslands), khair-sissoo forests, and Ramganga rivers have their distinct assemblage of plants. More than 600 species of birds, trees, shrubs, herbs, bamboos, grasses, climbers and ferns have been identified in the Jim Park. The most visible trees found in Corbett Jim Park are Sal, Sissoo and Khair. Many other species that contribute to the diversity are found scattered throughout the park. Chir Pine is the only conifer of the jim park and is found on ridge-tops. The upper reaches near Kanda ridge have Oak growing, which is essentially a Himalayan species. Other major trees species seen in and around Jim Corbett Park India are Bel, Kusum, Mahua, Bakli.

Jim Corbett National Park situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, in the newly created state of Uttarakhand is haven for animal wildlife lovers in India. The present area of the Jim Corbett national park India is 1318.54 sq. km. including 520 sq. km. of core area of and 797.72 sq. km. of buffer area. The core area of the Jim Corbett national park tiger reserve forms the  Corbett National Park India while the buffer contains reserve forests (496.54 sq.km.) as well as the Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary (301.18 sq.km.) Flat valleys are interspersed with hilly ridges and the Park's rolling grasslands provide an excellent view of its rich eco system. 


Jim Corbett National Park is one of India's most beautiful wildlife areas has a corbett in tiger population of around 160, which makes this corbett park as the last and the most important bastion of this endangered species in India.
